The school has a special needs (SENCO) and a Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator who ensure we cater for children’s individual needs. There are also governors attached to these areas of the curriculum.
Our over-riding aim is to help each child access the full curriculum.
Children identified as having Special Educational Needs are supported by Teaching Assistants and outside agencies wherever possible within the classroom.
We are able to call upon such resources as The Psychological Service, Speech and Language Therapy Unit, The Hearing Impaired Service, Behaviour Support Service, English as a Second Language Support, Physio and Occupational Therapists and Social Welfare organisations, as needed.
Early identification of children’s needs, the provision of support and suitable programmes of work alongside Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.s) are all considered vital to our planning for SEN pupils.
